SCOPE OF WORK
The Cloncurry Depot Upgrade project represents a comprehensive redevelopment of Energy Queensland’s existing depot facility. The works encompassed extensive external and internal upgrades designed to modernise the site, improve functionality, and ensure compliance with current codes and operational standards.
External Works
The project included the construction of staged concrete hardstands, coordinated pole yard transitions, and the installation of new inground services such as hydraulics, fire, electrical, communications, and security systems.
A major component of the external works was the replacement and upgrade of the wash bay facility. This scope of work involved the demolition of the existing wash bay slab and holding tanks, the construction of a new wash bay structure, and the installation of modern equipment including a prefabricated ABSCO Highlander shed, hand basin, VGS system, Gernie on wheels, and fire hose reel.
The upgrade also incorporated new hydraulic and electrical connections, compliant door assemblies, and ventilation improvements, ensuring the facility meets Energy Queensland’s operational and safety expectations.
Internal Works
The internal scope involved the complete refurbishment and compliance upgrade of the main depot building. This included the development of new offices, staff amenities, and PWD facilities, along with comprehensive fire-rating enhancements to improve safety and durability.
Existing accommodation areas were repurposed into modern staff amenities, creating a more functional workspace environment. Mechanical, electrical, and communication systems were fully renewed in line with current building codes and client specifications.
