SCOPE OF WORK
The works included but were not limited to undertaking the replacement of the existing Wharf 4 East post-tensioned prestressed concrete bridge with a structural steel bridge with increased capacity. The replacement involved the demolition of approximately 100 tonnes of existing concrete structure, the fabrication and installation of a 60-tonne single section steel bridge superstructure, pile strengthening, concrete approach slab, concrete topping to the wharf deck, revetment remedial works, etc.
INNOVATION
Instead of grout filling pile 165 through the side of the pile, we cored a hole through the headstock. Saved damage to the outer skin of the pile and got grout line in through the side with a high chance of blockage.
