SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of works included the full Internal Refurbishment of the Palm (24 Bed) and Magnolia (16 Bed) Hostel Buildings, along with the Melaleuca Wing.
We were also engaged to refurbish the entire 16 Bed nursing home, Banksia including the shared dining facilities.
New outdoor areas were constructed as an extension to the Banksia and Melaleuca wings. This saw both areas with new drainage, new slab, steel structure and new roof installed. Ceilings were installed to both structures, with the floor tiled in the Banksia Courtyard. New lighting installation completed the areas.
Externally we also installed new drainage, and a new slab to facilitate our construction of a new outdoor shed. The shed included a covered entrance and lighting.
Footpaths were also installed throughout facility grounds.
We also demolished the 29 Bed Nursing Infirmary and completed excavation works in preparation for the construction of the Building Pad for the new 18 Bed Memory Support Unit.
INNOVATION
When constructing the footpaths, we opted to undertake additional subgrade testing, resulting in design changes which ensured the pavement would last the required design life.
The Hydraulic Design in the new Laundry was reviewed and amended to ensure circulation would perform correctly. It was also identified that a lint trap was required to meet Mackay Regional Council requirements.
